Welcoming the Class of 2029 at Metropolitan State University of Denver
There’s something really special about the start of a new school year—and photographing Metropolitan State University of Denver’s (MSU Denver) convocation for incoming students was such a fun way to capture that energy. Held at the Auraria Campus in downtown Denver, Colorado, this event had all the excitement, connection, and school spirit you'd want on day one. As a Denver event photographer, moments like these are what I live for.
The day started with students getting to know their new campus. With class schedules and textbooks in hand, they explored the grounds, found their classrooms, and joined guided tours across the Auraria Campus. These early moments were perfect for capturing candid student portraits, natural interactions, and all the joy and nerves that come with starting college. The energy on campus was electric, and it’s what makes college event photography in Denver so much fun.
Once everyone gathered in the PE Center, the official convocation kicked off. There were speeches from the university president and an inspiring MSU Denver alumni, who shared advice and motivation for the incoming class. Afterward, the event shifted into full celebration mode—complete with games, live music, cheerleader performances, and info booths for sororities, fraternities, and student programs. Every student walked away with a custom MSU Denver bucket hat and likely a few new friends. These kinds of vibrant, high-energy events are ideal for capturing a mix of lifestyle, editorial, and documentary-style photography.
Whether I’m photographing a university orientation, a campus tour, or a student life event, I love telling stories through my lens. If you're planning a college event at Auraria Campus, or anywhere in the Aurora or Denver metro area, and need a photographer who can capture the real, meaningful stuff—I’d love to connect.
Let’s make your next event unforgettable—one photo at a time.
