Capturing Graduation Memories: Portraits of an MSU Denver Student on Auraria Campus
As a Denver portrait photographer, I had the pleasure of capturing a very special milestone for an MSU Denver student — her graduation photos! Graduation is such a meaningful moment, and nothing is better than preserving it with professional senior portraits that tell the story of a student’s journey.
Planning the Graduation Portrait Session
Before our Auraria Campus photo shoot, I advised her to bring her cap and gown, diploma, and any other props that would help highlight her personality and achievements. These elements make graduation photography in Denver feel personal and memorable.
We planned the session for golden hour, the perfect time for soft, flattering natural light, which is ideal for senior portraits and graduation photos.
Locations That Tell Her Story
This student spent most of her college career studying in the library, so it was natural to include the MSU Denver Library as one of our portrait locations. We also visited several of her favorite buildings on campus, capturing candid and posed shots that highlight the places that shaped her college experience.
Of course, no Auraria Campus graduation session would be complete without including the Denver skyline in the background. We also photographed in front of the historic Tivoli building, which has been a campus landmark since 1864. Each location added context and storytelling to her senior portrait photography session.
The Finale: Champagne Toss at Sunset
We ended the session with a fun champagne toss, just as the golden hour light perfectly illuminated the Denver skyline. This created a dramatic, celebratory graduation photo — the kind of image that is perfect for portraits on social media, personal keepsakes, or professional graduation announcements.
Why Professional Graduation Photography Matters
A professional Denver event and portrait photographer can transform a simple day on campus into a series of timeless images that capture not only the milestone of graduation but also the personality, achievements, and journey of the student. From Auraria Campus senior portraits to sunset skyline shots, every photo tells a story.
